Dear Participants,
Welcome to the second sitting of the Ghana International Model United Nations Conference 2025! I am deeply honored to serve as this year’s Secretary-General. As we embark on our Model United Nations journey, our theme for this year’s conference is “Actions of Impact”. It echoes our commitment to the principles and ideals that the United Nations stands for and highlights the effects of our actions in addressing the global challenges that confront us.
The theme underscores the importance of intentional and meaningful efforts in shaping our world. The term “Actions” emphasizes that progress and change do not happen by chance but are results of deliberate and thoughtful decisions and efforts. Each delegate’s contribution to this conference through debate, collaboration, and resolution drafting embodies the actions taken towards making an impact. As global citizens, beyond this conference, these actions can translate into community service, advocacy, and initiatives that gear towards achieving sustainability and peace in our local communities and the world at large.
The word “Impact” signifies the lasting effects of these actions on global issues. Impact is not merely about immediate outcomes but also about the long-term benefits that resonate across generations. In this Model United Nations, we strive to ensure that our actions lead to sustainable and positive changes, both in our simulated environment and in the real world. By fostering a deep understanding of international relations and promoting empathy and cooperation among young leaders, we are creating a ripple effect that extends far beyond this conference. Our goal is to cultivate a sense of responsibility and a commitment to impactful actions that will contribute to a more just, peaceful, and sustainable world.
Throughout the course of this conference, I urge each and every one of you to embody the spirit of “Actions of Impact.” Collaborate, debate, and negotiate passionately, but also responsibly and ethically. Seek common ground, find compromises, form alliances and build bridges across borders and ideologies. Remember that we are not just here to represent our assigned countries and their interests, but to serve as global citizens, striving for a more equitable, just, and sustainable world.
As we probe into the challenges that await us, let us be guided by the wisdom of the past, the urgency of the present, and the hope for a brighter future. Let us rise to the occasion, demonstrate the spirit of unity, and showcase the power of diplomacy and dialogue. We are glad to have you on board and here at GIMUN, we raise Global Giants.
