Our world is facing an urgent crisis as plastic pollution spirals out of control. Each year, millions of tons of single-use plastics flood our markets and make their way into our natural ecosystems and food systems. If we don’t act now, scientists predict there will be more plastic than fish in our oceans by 2050. As citizens who care deeply about our planet and communities, we cannot stand by as this environmental disaster unfolds. It needs a collaborative effort to build a sustainable future of plastic free ecosystems.

Prep and Pave LBG is therefore embarking on the Blue-Green Project – educational and advocacy campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of single-use plastics and to drive a real change. Our goal is two-fold: to educate young people and the general public about the threats plastics pose to human health, wildlife and the environment; and to partner with public and private organizations and governments to implement policies that curb single-use plastic and promote sustainable alternatives.

On the education front, we will conduct workshops and presentations at schools, universities, community centers and other institutions across the country. Through interactive displays, films and discussions, we will explain the full lifecycle of plastics – from extraction to disposal – and the severe harmful impacts at each stage. Young people, in particular, will learn how they can reduce their own plastic footprints and serve as advocates within their families and neighborhoods. We aim to mobilize a new generation of environmental stewards through these learning opportunities.

While education is crucial, policy action is also desperately needed. That is why we are reaching out to government agencies, local councils and allied nonprofits to discuss a collaborative policy approach. Some measures we propose include bans or heavy levies on selected single-use plastics, mandatory recycling targets, subsidies for reusable products/systems, and investment in sustainable materials research. By working hand in hand with leaders, we believe real progress can be made through a “top-down and bottom-up” strategy.

This is an ambitious but achievable vision. With your support and involvement, we know the Blue-Green Project can successfully raise consciousness and drive solutions to curb plastic pollution. Together, through education, advocacy and alliance-building, we will build a cleaner, greener and more sustainable future for all.

We will continue to work with multiple stakeholders and partners, locally and internationally to pursue this agenda.
